“They wanted a house that seamlessly transitions from the outside world to the inside world—a house that doesn’t seal them off from the nature they had come here to live in“ - SVPN

Sun Valley Mountain Modern

A modern take on the barn vernacular, the home sits in a valley and acts both as an architectural reference to the landscape and a haven within it. The interior textiles pull in the colors from the surrounding landscape in a muted palette subtly deferential to the original; sitting in the monumental expanse of the main living area, this reads as almost an interior replication of the fields and hills surrounding. Still, the home is anchored by the rich darkness of the cabinetry, ceiling, and window panes, separated from the landscape by this shift in tone. The floor, with its natural variances in shade and grain, balances this full array of textures and tones found in the home, tying together its role as a haven and its relationship to its surroundings.
